Sam Drukker (1957)

The portrait of the red-haired Vicky, painted by Sam Drukker (1957), will be auctioned on June 16 at Zuydwal Auctions.

Sam Drukker is influenced by old masters such as Rembrandt and Frans Hals, but also by modern figurative artists. Many of his paintings explore themes such as transience, identity, and human vulnerability. . He paints on unconventional surfaces such as used wood, canvas sails, and discarded materials, which gives his art a unique texture and character. Drukker has achieved national and international success with his paintings and drawings. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in the Netherlands and abroad. In 2011, he was named Artist of the Year by the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam, partly because of his impressive series of portraits of Holocaust survivors. His palette is often subdued and earthy, with a melancholic or introspective atmosphere. On June 16, five portraits by Sam Drukker will be auctioned.

Several museums in our country have paid attention to his work. For example, the Drents Museum in Assen has organized multiple exhibitions dedicated to his work.
